In 2007 Laura Coleman travelled to Bolivar to work with NGO Comunoidad Inti Wara Yassi, managing three wildlife sanctuaries and giving homes to animals rescued from wildlife trafficking.
Her experiences there inspired her acclaimed memoir The Puma Years, published in June 2021.
